CORDON SALON
A Melbourne-based design studio that uses research, collaboration, and experimentation to speculate on approaches to contemporary craft and design, often working with lost, forgotten, or overlooked materials.

(WHY?) These samples result from Cordon Salon’s ongoing investigations into the fluidity of metal and the decorative potential of steel surfaces.
    Evolving from a research fellowship supported by the International Specialist Skills Institute, these samples utilise specialised techniques adopted from armour-making crafts.
    The resulting blend of historical and contemporary methods seeks to find new approaches that will form the basis of the evolving body of work, intended to foster a deeper connection between tradition and modern artistry.

MATTERS is a collaborative platform and exhibition host that advocates for time and intention in the design process. Prompted by the question 'what matters to you?', MATTERS serves as an outlet for contemporary concerns, with a steadfast focus on three core thematic pillars: process, community, and longevity. Following the success of (NO THINGS) in 2023 - the inaugural instalment in a three-part group exhibition initiated by Marlo Lyda and Jordan Fleming -  MATTERS will once again claim Villa Alba Museum as its home and heartbeat in 2024.
